My Back To School Look!

Ughhh school. It’s so close!!

I know it might be weird, but I’m really pumped to be a freshman. We’re on the bottom of the food-chain, but high school just looks so exciting!

It’s time to prove yourself, and a fresh new look is what you need.

Starting off, I picked a BEAUUUTIFUL dress from my fave online store, Modcloth.

It’s the “Soda Fountain” dress in the color ginger.

It’s totally 50’s…my favorite fashion era.

I CAN’T EVEN EXPLAIN HOW MUCH I LOVE IT.

While other girls will go to school in their UGGs, skinny jeans, and PINK t-shirts, I’ll be the one who waltzes through the doors in a 1950’s goldenrod dress. I love everything about it, the buttons, the cinched waist, the cap sleeves. I can totally picture myself sipping an ice cream float in this. ;}

And for footwear, I chose some red TOMS to really add a nice contrast. The red looks reaalllyyy good with the dress.

They’re simple, classic, and comfortable. You can also pair them with a dress without making it look TOO casual, or rock them with jeans, shorts, whatever!

They are totally universal, and I love the detailed insides!

And of course, you can’t go to school without your bag! What else would you hold pens, pencils, books, homework, papers, supplies, food, and who-knows-what-else in?

Delia’s has the cutest little backpacks. I like this one because (A: It holds a lot) and (B: It’s classic)! The leather look never goes out of style, even if it’s faux.

Forget clunky, huge backpacks! This one’s nice and petite, so it’s easy to stuff in your locker.

Now last, but not least, I picked out an adorable pair of earrings. You could call these the cherry on top of this look!

*Ba dum tiss!*

Cute, huh? And yeah, I know, my joke was lame.

If you want to buy these earrings, you can get them here at Etsy , the utopia for all things cute and unique! These earrings add a vintage and quirky feel, which I like. Plus, when you put up your hair in science, they’ll be a total eye-catcher!

That’s all I have for today, my doves.

DUECES!

(Oh, and P.S: Are any of you excited to go back to school like I am? Let me know!)

Style Me Vintage!

Hello again, fabulous divas.

So, I recently got a book from the library called “Style Me Vintage!”

It’s basically a step-by-step book on how to style your hair, makeup, and outfit based on a certain era. I’ve been really getting into the vintage look lately, and decided to do a post on that!

FOR STARTERS, I freaking LOVE the 1950s. I love the fashion, the hair, the makeup, the music, and Miss Marilyn Monroe of the silver screen! That was the decade of the hourglass figure…of full skirts, brocade, pearl chokers, long gloves and marvelous cat-eye sunglasses, too!

1950s-Fashion-20           1950s-Fashion-01     tumblr_lsvbw5XzuL1qjijbbo1_500

I honestly believe I would have loved living in this era. “It was a decade of reawakening, rebellion, discovery and progress.”

The whole birth of the 50’s “look” started with Dior’s Corolle Line of 1947. It basically created a tiny-waisted, full-skirted figure that came to represent the iconic feminine look of the 1950’s.

Plus, prints became bold and beautiful! The poodle skirt was born!

In the UK, Queen Elizabeth II became a huge source of fashion inspiration. Her looks were always finished and feminine, topped off with gloves, brooch, and bag, and a lot of women copied her style.

original

Also, the material “lucite” was very commonly used in expensive, box-style handbags (which were very popular), and sheer, sexy shoes. Shoes were just beginning to transform into something higher, pointier, and slimmer than ever before!

With makeup, it went right along with fashion. More color! Blues, greens, pinks and violets were popular on the eyes, with corals and pinks on the lips. Eyebrows were sharply defined, tans were in style, and blondes were definitely most-favored.

But who can say no to a FREAKING SEXY-AS-FUDGE BRUNETTE?

Summer Dream Look

MY DARLINGS, MY ANGEL-FACES, MY DOE-EYED BEAUTIFULS, MY GORGEOUS FOLLOWERS, MY LOVELIES, MY DOVES.

I’ve been gone for SO long and I’m so sorry.

I know I haven’t pieced together a look for a while so here ya go!

So, for starters, I picked out my ultimate dream bikini, or “midkini”, from Delias! Image

I like how it has cups..for someone who has small boobs (like me) that adds some dimension.!

Plus, the mint/floral pattern is SO CUTE. I feel like it would make tanned skin pop, and really be an eye-catcher. I’m actually ordering this midkini, ‘cuz I love it that much! ❤

Check it out here. It’s on sale, ladies!

And from Etsy, I picked out a fabulous sand-dollar hairpin to compliment the summer idea.Image

It’s super beachy, but simple enough to not be distracting. It’s totally mermaid-esque. And you’ll probably be playing in the water…so you don’t really want to have too much accessories.

And now…BODY GLITTER!! Okay, seriously, it’s not just for strippers. A little on the shoulders and legs can look really flattering and fun. Image

I picked out a body glitter from Victoria’s Secret, but a lot of companies and brands have glitter sprays, sticks, creams, lotions, or powders. You just have to look around!

Online, VS has three flavors: “Marshmallow Gold”, “Candy Baby”, and “Cocoa Bronze”. All of them sound delicious to me!

Next, why not add some fun earrings?

These ones are from the “Bauble Bar” at Baublebar.com

I just feel like they’re simple enough to not take anything away from the outfit…but they add an adorable detail!

Off to bed, then, for sweet, summery dreams.

Mission G.N.O!

G.N.O: (Noun.) Definition: “Girls Night Out”, a gender-exclusive activity where women meet to engage in social activities.

Initiative: Have a good time.

So my girlfriends and I went out on the town to a oh-so-fabulous masquerade ball to celebrate Earth Day! I felt like I should share some pictures because our costumes were AUUHMAYZING.

My friend Kaylie went as an “Aristocat”.

My other friend, Katie, went as a penguin!

IMG_3255

IMG_3225

And I went as a Phoenix!

IMG_3224

IMG_3089

The ball was FAAABULOUS. There was music, dancing, disco lights, and a cute boy who we called “Mr. Hot Sweatshirt Guy” (but we didn’t have the guts to talk to him!)

Anyways, the food sucked, but throughout the night we felt unexplainably glamorous. My friend Kaylie and I brushed glitter on our collarbones, chest, and back, so that when we danced our skin sparkled like diamonds.

(Because we danced so much, I wore Converse under my dress and not heels. Shhhh!)

IMG_3229

IMG_3221

We left at 11pm and went home to eat chips, gossip, rip off our uncomfortable dresses, scrub the makeup from our faces, and  remove all of our clunky jewelry.

It was an amazing night.

Talk to you later, darlings!

MAC in the Mail & Cute Workout Clothes

I’ve been pestering my mom to purchase my MAC stuff for months now (I got exceptionally good grades and she PROMISED), so now I’ve got a whole bunch of stuff coming for a review!

And one certain product I picked out was “Candy Yum Yum” lipstick. EEEEEK!! Omgomgomgomg.

I heard Candy Yum Yum is like the QUEEN of pink lipsticks. So bright…so iconic…so crazy and daring! For those who don’t know what I’m talking about, here’s some 411 on Candy Yum Yum.

Image

Candy Yum Yum is a LEGENDARY MAC lipstick, and for a while, there this huge buzz about it on Youtube.  Everyone had to have taste of Candy Yum Yum! Everyone!

Anyway..it’s basically a bright, neon pink with a matte finish. I think it looks better on darker skin tones, but I hope I can rock it!

And BTW, guys I found an awesome website for cute workout clothes! Forever 21 Active Wear is seriously the bomb-diggity. When your Diet-Train crashes and burns (like mine), there’s nothing left to motivate you than a pair of adorable athletic capris and a matching sports bra. Image

WHOOO! I’m gonna go workout!

Inspired Outfit

Today, because I was very bored, I decided to piece together an “inspired” outfit. An inspired outfit is basically a look that someone or someTHING inspired me to make!

I just watched “My Week With Marilyn.” Marilyn Monroe is such a classic beauty icon, and wore a lot of gorgeous things. (Short review on the movie: The actress played her extremely well! Check it out when you have the chance!:} )

So, first off, I chose a swimsuit, not a dress, for a more beachy look.

Image

It’s the “Magicsuit Solid Gabby One-Piece Swimsuit” from Soma.  It just has that vintage pin-up feel, and reminds me a lot of one that Marilyn wore! Marilyn+Monroe+black+bathing+suit

Next, I picked out some high heels! It’s all about the shoes, ladies!

Who could rock heels with a swimsuit? Marilyn could!Image

I know everything looks very “basic black”, but Marilyn was the epitome of classic. These are the “High Heel Platform Pumps” from Peltz Shoes.

And last, I chose a pair of black, vintage cat-eye sunglasses from RetroCitySunglasses.   Image

Add some red lipstick, and that’s the cherry on top of a fabulous outfit. ❤

(I like to use MAC’s “MAC Red”.)

 Image

Hopefully this outfit wasn’t too boring for you guys!

See you all next time!

My “Wishful Thinking” Spring Outift

It seems like all the spring trends are always bright and blah: patterns, bright colors, statement shoes, bright eyewear, and the like. Let me tell you a secret, ladies…You don’t have to depend on the guidance of fashion mags for what to wear!

During the sunny, crisp days of spring, there’ so much inspiration in the weather and nature! Here’s my “wishful thinking” spring outfit WISHES, and WANTS:

First off, I found this hair bow on Etsy.com, my SAVIOR for all things cute and unique!

Image As you can see, it’s a very soft, delicate pattern, with very soft, delicate colors! The pearl accent adds to the vintage touch, and it looks girly without being TOO “little-girlish”.

I also LOVE LOVE LOVE the color mint for springtime!! Seriously. Mint is soo refreshing, sweet, and screams “Spring! Spring is here!”

Image

I just typed into Google “mint dress” and a bazillion options came up! This one is the “Filled With Merri-Ment Dress” from Modcloth. If I had this dress I would literally die. It’s so adorable!!

Image

Where I’m from, it’s mildly dewy in the spring. I like prancing around in cute little rain boots, splashing in puddles and what not. Doing happy-dances in the rain! Skipping through the damp grass!!! These. Are. So. Sweet. I adore the color…it’s like peaches and cream! These are Hunter Rain Boots from Bloomingdales, in the color “Flame”.

PLUS one jacket! Again, from Modcloth.

Image Meet “The Wheel Tough Gal Jacket”! Paired with the feminine, dainty pieces, it adds a nice contrast because it has a rebellious touch.

Anyway..I hope I didn’t bore you all to death! What are some of YOUR favorite things to wear for spring?

Luv ya!

My VDay FOTD and OOTD

Ohhhh happy Valentine’s Day, everybody!

Today was a rush of school, Valentines, and middle-schoolers professing their undying love for each other. We had a school “spirit day” today, and I dressed up in a ridiculously fluffy, pink tutu, and pink shirt, and a pink headband in my hair. Image

Sorry for the little peek of bra. And the noticeable Hello Kitty undershorts. It’s a fun look, though, you have to admit!

Image

My makeup was a simple cat eye, and sweet, pink cheeks and lips. I used Maybelline Baby Lips in “Pink Punch” (I was having a little experiment), and on my cheeks is Milani Baked Blush in “Dolce Pink”. I was using my Maybelline Eye Studio Liner in “Blackest Black”, and my Wet ‘N’ Wild “Reserve Your Cabana” dusted a little bit everywhere for an extra finish.

What do YOU guys think? How was your day? What did you wear?

Love ya lots!

Valentine’s Day

Hi my sweethearts!

So.

Valentine’s Day.

A holiday full of mushy couples, chocolate hearts, icky chick-flicks, and romantic dates. A really stupid, pointless, adorable holiday.

I am personally single. So, on this holiday, in the place of romantic dates, I just sit home and eat food. Forever alone. *sniffle sniffle*

Haaaah totally kidding. I’m not one for mushiness and gushiness, candlelit dinners and whatever ickiness couples do on Valentine’s Day. But, even with all the cheesy chocolate boxes and corny paper hearts floating all over the place, Valentine’s Day is a nice inspiration for clothing!

NO, I don’t mean that you should dress up like a giant chocolate box, or get decked out in lace and ribbons. I always thought of Valentine’s Day as a feminine, sweet, holiday, where you can dress more romantically than usual. Flowing dresses, light lace and tulle, loose curls over bare shoulders, delicate jewelry and a blushing complexion, with sweet, pink, kissable lips. ROMANTIC and ELEGANT!6a00d8341c683453ef00e5505095de8833-800wi

None of the whole “sweater embroidered with hearts, red shoes with white socks, pink skirt, everything matching and coordinating to Valentine’s Day colors” thing. That’s tacky and…weird. Not cute at all.

Not saying you have to look like a Vogue model or anything, but play around! Fun hair pieces, long skirts, and light fabrics scream effortlessly beautiful.

TIP: If you’re going to be doing a little kissing (or a lot), stay away from the super-sticky lipgloss!

ANOTHER TIP: Breath-mints are your BFFL! And so is lipbalm, hun! ;}

ONE MORE: If you’re not going out anywhere, invite all yo single ladies over!

♫ ♫ If you like it then you shoulda put a ring on it, if you like it you shoulda put a ring on it! ♫

How To Look Good in Pictures

Hi my adorables!

Have you ever looked back at super-old pics of yourself and CRINGED? Wondered what the heck you were thinking back then? Wanted to just wipe out those embarrassing year-books? Yeah, me too.

Want to know how to look good in pictures? Of course you do! Here’s my life-saving information:

Step 1:

If you’re at a place where you KNOW people will be snapping pics left and right, wear a little makeup to conceal flaws and put the oil-slick skin at bay. You don’t have to wear a lot, just enough to look like you, but enhanced and confident. nomakeup-look

Step 2:

Wear some clothes that make you feel attractive and comfy!! If you’re wearing a too-tight, white dress that pinches in all the wrong places, chances are you won’t look, or feel, so good. (That is, unless you’re a Victoria’s Secret angel.)

Wear something appropriate for the event, that goes with you’re body type and coloring. This will get rid of all worries about clothing problems!

rz12hf53

Step 3:

Well, your facial expression usually plays a big part in how your photo turns out. If you’re having a good time, put on your best, genuine smile. In my opinion, everyone on this whole wide Earth looks better when they smile. Instead of ducking under a table, angle your face towards the camera and smile like you’re meeting a close friend. Or, make a funny-face! Have fun! It IS just a photo, after all.

images

Anyway, photos are photos. But, I hope these tips were somewhat-helpful, because these are things that I use all the time when I’m around cameras. Of course, you probably won’t look like Marilyn Monroe, OR a Victoria’s Secret angel, but you’re not supposed to! You’re unique. And you’re beautiful! When you look in the mirror, you can know that no one else looks like you, and that makes you special.
