Bare and Beautiful

Today I felt like wearing very little makeup. I brought out some of my favorite products to create a “no-makeup” makeup look, and I’m actually very happy with it!

In today’s day and age, most women strive to create that flawless, effortless look, as if they are the rarest of creatures….a natural beauty. (Not a unicorn.)

Only a few of us are successful.Image

This is my basic everyday look this summer. It’s simple, it’s clean, and has the right amount¬†of polish.

I just love the look of luminous skin, glossy pink lips, and dark lashes…it’s a perf combo! ūüėÄ

Here are the products I used:

Elf Tinted Moisturizer in “Nude”

Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in #10

Revlon Nearly Naked Powder in “Fair Clair”

Maybelline Full ‘N Soft Mascara

MAC Lipstick in “Hot Gossip”

MAC Lipglass in “Wonderstruck”

Okay, I have to admit, this is the least amount of makeup I’ve wore in a long time. But my skin needed a break from all the heavy stuff…it was clogging my pores and making my skin look so tired!¬†

A lot of girls my age wear a ton of heavy makeup. You’ve probably seen the Twitter-pics, the Facebook profiles, the Instagram selfies. The thick, caky foundation, the lumpy, clumpy mascara, heavy liner, or bronzer. Makeup that makes them look worse instead of better, older instead of younger.

I think at any age under 40, GO AS BARE AS POSSIBLE. You are fresh, youthful, and beautiful. Show it off while you can!!

Kiss kiss! Stay pretty, ladies. ;}

Sorry I haven’t posted in a bit, be prepared for some reviews on new products!!

Maybelline Eyestudio Master Duo Liquid Liner

Haiii Curly-Fries.

So, I’m not one for extreme eyeliner. SOMETIMES I’ll rock the vintage cat-eye, but my everyday look is completely devoid of any eyeliner at all!!.

I’ve been hearing some buzz about this particular liner, and I got quite curious!

db_maybelline_eyeliner

It’s got this teensy-tiny round applicator, that is THE COOLEST THING EVER.

It can create a flawless thick or thin line..and all you have to do is twist it on it’s side.IMG_5178

The formula itself is super rich and semi-glossy, and comes off easily at night! (No stained-black eyes! Yayness!)

BUT LET’S GET REAL:¬†How good is the actual product? AMAYYYYUHZING. FAAAABULOUS. PERFECTOOO. The staying power is pretty good, packaging is sleek, and it’s easy to apply. I’ve been exploring a bunch of Maybelline products lately, and I think I am really getting into the brand.

Maybe creating a flawless cat-eye in one swipe is just $7.99 away…

But that’s for you to decide. PLUS, it takes some practice. One my first try, my hand was shaking everywhere!

I’ll catch ya on the flipside.. :3

If you have a question, you can put it in the comments! I’ll be happy to respond!

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream

Hey my Curly-Fries! ‚̧

So, I bought this yesterday on a total impulse.

Ever since this came into stores, I’ve watched (and read) a million reviews on this stuff! I read every qualm, claim, complaint, and opinion. And I bought a tube of this stuff anyways, being same old ignorant Isabella.

So, anyway, it’s a cute product, right? You can’t deny the packaging.

Image

The packaging is a simple tube with pink bubble lettering, but I was a total sucker for it. It looks so fresh and pretty, right?

It reads exactly: “8-in-1 Beauty Balm Skin Perfecter.

1. Blurs imperfections

2. Enhances

3. Brightens

4. Adjusts to skin-tone

5. Smooths

6. Hydrates

7. SPF 30 protects

8. 0% oils and other heavy ingredients”

Okay, first off, I will address every single one of these claims.

When I put it on, it felt super light and…kinda like a balm on my skin. Creamy and a bit tacky. Ugh. Well that’s not something I like, right off the bat.

So, the claims are pretty exaggerated, I mean, Maybelline makes it sound like the holy grail of the drugstore. It does make my skin look pretty fresh, but before I put on powder I looked QUITE dewy. And I’m not a fan of dewy.

Plus, I had to put on a few layers before it actually looked like there was anything on my skin.

I have to admit…I’m on the fence, guys! Have any of you tried this BB Cream? I’d love to hear in the comments!

TTFN. Ta-ta for now!

Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse

This is my first cream-foundation I’ve ever tried, and gurrrll, I must say, it is FABULOUS.

I bought it in a previous Wal-Mart haul, and HAD to share it’s amazingness. Truthfully, I bought it mainly for experimentation.

dream-smooth-mousse-ultra-hydrating-foundation_pack-shot-crop

I got it in the color “Classic Ivory”, which is a perfect match for my fair, neutral skin.

The packaging is sort of wonky, because you’ve got a compact on top for the sponge, THEN a twist-off bottom for the cream product. And no mirror for touch-ups!

dreamsmooth2

But aside from that, the product is GREAT. It provides a smooth, creamy coverage that’s about medium-intensity. The product is very emollient and moisturizing, which is great for dry spots.

DISCLAIMER:¬†Just because the product is called “Mousse” doesn’t mean it’s mousse-like in texture. (It’s not at all!)

Anyways, I ran a couple experiments with this and was quite pleased. On my combo skin, it lasts quite well without powder, which I was really surprised at. The finish is interesting: it’s really luminous but not dewy, sort of like fresh, clean satin.

But anyways, this is truly a wonder. It doesn’t cake, streak, splotch, or oxidize, a problem I have with many drugstore foundations. If you were curious about this product before and it sounds like it’s for you, GO GET IT ASAP. ‚̧

Among all my fancy high-end lotions, potions, powders, and liquid foundations, this little sucker’s going to squat right in the middle of them all.

I love it.

IT’S GOT THE OFFICIAL GIRLY SEAL OF APPROVAL.

How-To: A Natural Face

Hey my lovely, fresh-faced beauties!

In the makeup world, a natural, or “nude” face means fully-dressed. It shouldn’t be hiding your features, it should be enhancing them…which is why everyone can wear this look!

Simply put, you’re just playing up what you like about your face. Do you have large, expressive eyes? Perfect cheekbones? Glowing skin? Full lips? Pick ONE feature, because that feature should be the focal point.

Here’s what you’ll need to get that “natural” beauty:

IMG_2846

  • Foundation or coverage of your choice (BB Cream, mineral powder, ect.)¬†
  • Concealer
  • Pressed powder to set
  • A favorite blush/bronzer
  • Highlighter
  • Eye base or primer
  • Natural eyeshadow
  • Mascara
  • Brow powder and gel
  • Lipstick
  • Lipgloss

(P.S: You don’t have to use all of the products I mentioned..you can pick and choose what to add or take away!)

Anyway, let’s start!

The first step is simple, yet difficult, so prepare yourself! You need to create a perfect, smooth, flawless complexion.

I exfoliated my skin and put on some moisturizer first, so my skin would be prepped and primed. When you’re applying your coverage, be extremely careful! In one flash of a powder puff you can go totally cake-faced. (If you turned cake-faced, check out this past post for salvation.)

The next part is ten times easier! Blush and highlighter! I love a good blush…the right shade can make such a difference in how someone looks. I chose one with subtle gold veining, so it can really make my cheeks pop! The secret in a nicely flushed complexion is LESS is MORE, so be sure to tap off any excess of your blush brush! I usually add a light dusting of highlighter on the tops of my cheekbones.

In this look, I decided to play up my eyes. Before I added any shadow, I put on a cream base to intensify the colors I would layer over it. I chose dreamy, subtle colors that would really make my brown eyes glow. Then, because my brows are sparse, I filled them in and set them with a clear gel. The eyes are the windows to the soul, and windows need good frames!¬†A wise Youtuber once said, “Your brows should be like sisters, not twins.”, so you shouldn’t go to extremes to make them look identical.

The final step is my personal favorite, the lips, one of the most seductive things about a face. Before any lipstick or gloss, you should have them exfoliated and moisturized. I chose a nude lipstick color, but you could pick any soft, natural color  you like. I like to add gloss on top too, it makes your lips look softer, younger, and plumper.

And you are dooooone, hun! ;}

PRODUCTS I USED:

  • Dr. Jart+ Premium Beauty Balm SPF 45
  • Mineral Fusion Concealer Duo in “Neutral”
  • Clinique Stay-Matte Pressed Powder in “Stay Buff”
  • Milani Blush in “Dolce Pink”
  • Wet ‘N Wild Color Icon Bronzer in “Reserve Your Cabana”
  • Maybelline Color Tattoo in “Barely Branded”
  • Smashbox Eyelights Palette in “Flash”
  • Real Colors Whip Lash Ultimate Mascara in “Extreme Black”
  • Zuzu Luxe Lipstick in “Ultra Suede”
  • NYC Liquid Lipshine in “Nude York City”

You should look and feel really fresh and confident, like you’re not wearing much of anything, but ¬†still put-together and polished.

I hope you guys enjoyed this how-to. After all, it’s basically my everyday look in a nutshell!

FOTD

Well technically, this is a “face of yesterday.”<3 ¬†Haha

I wore this today, but it’s nearly midnight so I guess it’s “yesterday”. If that makes any sense.Image

This look is very no-fuss. I went to the zoo, so I didn’t exactly “pull out the big guns”. I just popped on some coverage, a dab of eyeshadow, and a topping of gloss. Simple, easy-peasy.

Image

I apologize…I can make extremely strange faces. Hopefully this squinty-eyed, puckered-lipped, peace-signed one above didn’t scar you for life.

My coverage wasn’t great..I used Maybelline’s Fit Me Concealer in #10 dotted under my eyes and on a few problem areas. It has a powder finish, so no powder was needed!

Image

As you can see, I have a light lilac eye and a shimmery, cherry-pink lip. When you see the lips up close, they really are super GLITTERY.

I was going out with the family, so I didn’t want to put on the cat-eye liner, falsies, and dramatic lipstick. It wasn’t like I was going to be walking the red carpet…more like modeling for a spring Vogue photo shoot, or a first date, or school. I wanted to look fresh but NOT overdone.

Image

So my eyes were kind of a mix of palettes. I was short on time, so I just kinda winged it.

I used an Estee Lauder Double-Wear ShadowCreme in “Gold Dust” all over my lids and up to my brow bone to provide a warm base. Then I piled on Urban Decay’s “Sin”, “Fishnet”, and “Stray Dog”.

Image

On my lips I just used a lip balm as a base, but you could use anything from Chapstick to MAC’s fancy shmancy lip conditioner. Then, I used MAC Lustreglass in “Wonderstruck”. It’s soooo glittery and wonderful!

And just for fun, I’m going to include what I put in my travel bag.

ISABELLA’S TRAVEL BAG¬†

Soooooo we were at the zoo for a pretty long time. Afterwards we ate, then stopped at Dutch Bros, then Walmart, and by the time we got home I was soooo tired.

When I’m at the zoo/fair/airport/mall/ect., I HATE lugging around a huge bag unless there’s somewhere to set it. I planned ahead this time though, and only had a small wristlet.

Image

It was just big enough to hold everything I needed. Which was:

Oil blotting tissues

Lip gloss for touch-ups

Hair ties

Small dental floss

Cell phone

To me, that’s all you need on the go. Sure, a little pressed powder wouldn’t hurt, but hey, I was at the ZOO. It would seem stupid to run off somewhere looking for a bathroom to touch-up your powder when your looking at elephants and other beautiful creatures!!

Lip gloss isn’t as much of a hassle to reapply in public.

If you guys have any questions or anything of that sort, leave it in the comments. I honestly really enjoy hearing your guys’s opinions and feedback. Did you like my look?

‘Night!

My Concealer Collection!

Concealer is a huge part of my daily routine. It’s like my under-cover agent, for concealing my dark circles, zits, redness, and any ugly part of my epidermis.

I have the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in #10, Clinique All About Eyes Concealer in #01″Light Neutral”, and Mineral Fusion Concealer Duo in “Neutral”.

If you’re wondering “Why the *bleep* do you have more dan one concealer, gurl?!?! Dat cray-cray!”

Wellllll…it’s because sometimes I’m in the mood for different textures. My Fit Me is good for travel, my Clinique is good for under eyes, and my Mineral Fusion is great for pimples. They’re like three best friends, you love them all, but they’re unique from each other!

So here’s some mini-reviews on my three concealers! ‚̧

MAYBELLINE FIT ME CONCEALER

AAAAC_UQgeAAAAAAAR2JCA

These concealers come in tubes like a lip gloss, and you get a lot of product for your buck! The doe-foot applicator in the picture looks really thin and stumpy, but in real life, it seems very full, soft, and squishy on contact. The concealer itself has a thin, creamy consistency that’s very emollient…it’s probably the best thing out of the whole Fit Me line!! P.S: It has a powder finish, and if you actually SET it with a powder, it can look caky!

I use this when I’m too lazy to actually use foundation or tinted moisturizer, like when I’m on the go! I just dot a bit here and there, then blend it out! It provides a great all-over coverage.

CLINIQUE ALL ABOUT EYES CONCEALER

clinique-all-about-eyes-concealer

This is a concealer I love. You only need a MINUSCULE amount to get good coverage, and you can mix it with moisturizer for a customized tinted moisturizer. Compared to the Maybelline Fit Me, it’s more thick on the skin.

P.S: ¬†It’s not oil free, and the ladies at the Clinique counter recommended to only use it on my under-eyes, but when I use it on acne, I don’t see or feel a difference! I guess for sensitive-skin-people, you should only use it on your eyes, but whatevs. Rebel life, yo.

MINERAL FUSION CONCEALER DUO

300

This is my favorite cream concealer in the whole world. Blending is effortless, and you can mix your own shade! The darker peach color is what I use to correct my dark circles, and I dot the lighter one on acne. It really clings to your skin, so it lasts quite a long time! I can’t explain how much I love this…but I love it a lot. It was a bit pricey if I remember, but compared a handful of high end concealers it wasn’t that shocking. I’m actually starting to make a dent in it! ;}

Anywayyy that’s my concealer collection! I hope the reviews are helpful, and if you have any questions you can ask them in the comments. Do you guys have more than one concealer, or am I just weird? :}

Buhbye guys!

How-To: Smoky Eye

I don’t know anything sexier than a well-done smoky eye. Who can’t rock this look? It’s totally universal..just pick the right colors and your good to go.

Plus, it’s really carefree, smudgy, edgy, messy, ect. NOT nit picky. Have fun with it!

So here’s what you’ll need to achieve that seductive stare:

IMG_2343

  • An eyeshadow primer
  • Your favorite mascara
  • Eyeshadow colors of your preference (you need a lid color, a crease color, a dark, smoky color, and a highlight)
  • Optional: Eyeliner

First things first. Prime, prime, prime! Primer is one of the most important steps, so don’t skip it. QUICK TIP: Less is more. You don’t want a goopy, sticky mess on your lid from using too much product.

Now, the actual fun part. The eyeshadow! Take your lid color first and pat it on your lid. Easy-peasy, right? Now, go in with the crease color, shading in the crease of your eye. This should subtly make your eyes a little more dramatic. Then, taking your darkest color, and layer it over the crease color, blending it out to create a smoky gradience. You can layer more color until you get the feel you want, but don’t go totally Racoon-esque. Taking your highlight, dust it on your brow bone and in the corner of your eyes.

Next, put on your mascara. If you really want to, you can put a little eyeliner on your top lid and waterline, but it’s totally optional!

Aaand you’re done, hun. And you look SMOKIN’. ;}

IMG_2369 PRODUCTS USED:

  • Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer in “Original”¬†
  • Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow in “Velvet Crush” with UD Eyeshadow in “Sin”
  • Whiplash Ultimate Mascara
  • Maybelline Eyestudio Eyeliner in “Blackest Black”

Anyway, smoky eyes are pretty chill. Mine’s very hazy and casual, but I love it. ‚̧

With smoky eyes, I strongly suggest you play around with fun colors. Because it’s a more, well, “smoky” look, it gives you a lot more flexibility to use bright shades on your lids to add an extra pop.

Thanks so much guys!!!. Talk to you soon.

Dream Bouncy Blush UN-Hyped

Maybe she was born with it. Maybe it’s Maybelline.

The Dream Bouncy Blush was a sort of craze. Everyone had to buy one. So squishy! So soft! So captivating in its mysteriousness. What was it like? How did it feel?

Well. I finally bought one. (A little late on the band-wagon, I know!) And so I thought I might do a review on it…in the color “Pink Plum”.

IMG_2294

I love how it looks in it’s little pan, it reminds me of a plump, sweet fruit! The color is pretty basic, borderline fresh pink. It’s a cute color, but it’s not something I don’t already have.

IMG_2296

Packaging is pretty adorable as well, but again, EH.

The interesting thing about the Dream Bouncy is the product. It’s creamy, squishy, and acts like a stain to the cheeks. It provides a nice, healthy tint, but it rubbed right off my skin!!!

PLUS, the swatch is pretty weak. It takes a ton of product for good color! :{

IMG_2302

In my ¬†opinion, you’re not missing much not buying these. On dryer skin, these COULD work…but I’m not so sure. It seems like these babies are pretty hit-and-miss. And yet, this is just another over-hype. :{

Have you tried any of the Dream Bouncy Blushes?

What did you think?

Did you like them?

KLuvYa! PEACE!

Dupe for a dupe?

Hey guys!

Soo, as you know, the Maybelline Color Tattoo thingy was very hyped up in the beauty world. Very creamy, long-wearing, but known to fade. A possible dupe for MACs Paint Pots.

Image

They usually cost about 7-8 dollars. But what if I told you, I had a DUPE for a dupe that costed about 5 or 6 bucks? That’s more portable than the Color Tattoos. That has such similar colors, it’s crazy!!!

Well…everyone give a round of applause to the Rimmel Scandal Eyes Eyeshadow Sticks!¬†Image

They’re creamy, easy to blend, easy to build, long-wearing, and so pigmented it knocked my socks off. I have “Paranoid Purple” and “Tempting Turquoise”. The purple shade is very, very dark eggplant purple, and the turquoise shade is bright, sort of shimmery, and BEAUTIFUL. It’s very “POW!”, ya know?

If you want a full review, let me know, guys!
