Stila Countless Color Pigments

Happy fall, everyone!

Omg. I can’t believe I’ve been gone for two weeks. YIKES!!!  I feel so awful, but let’s face it, high school has been kicking my butt.

My birthday was on the tenth, and I got some beautiful gifts.

I introduce to you, STILA COUNTLESS COLOR PIGMENTS! Gather ’round, gather ’round!

Image

Obviously, they’re gorgeous. They come with a lot of product in the pan, swirled around together to create a really pretty effect. To me, they look like little planets. Cuuuuute.

Stila is a high-end brand I haven’t experimented with very much, and I was excited to try these!

I got two colors, “Tie Dye” (the blue-purple-pink one) and “Lyric” (the orange-peach-pink one). For pigmentation, they both are pretty equal. The powder comes off silky and creamy, blending seamlessly and staying put for a long time. There’s no glitter or any shimmer, just a lightly satiny finish.

Here’s an up-close look at Tie Dye.

These colors are FREAKING BEAUTIFUL.

Swirled together, it’s like a peacock-color. (I don’t really know how else to describe it!) What I like about these pigments is that you can wear the colors separate, or blend them together. Unfortunately, I can’t really wear this to school. It’s a bit much for every day…I’ll save it for homecoming! ;}

Next is Lyric.

I’ve used this one a lot these past couple weeks. Some of you might be like “Whuuut. PINK on the eyes? Gurrrl that’s cray cray.”

But this looks really nice, I swear! It’s not harsh at all, it just gives your eyes a sweet, tender blush. When I’m in a hurry, I’ll put a little on my cheeks too!

That’s all I have for today, ladies. I’ll be back with a fall look really soon, with a couple little posts in between.

Have a great afternoon! ❤

Makeover With My Mom!!

Soo, today was a good day. I had my first day of high school, AND I got to give my mom a makeover!

My mom is totally clueless about makeup. She usually only wears a couple products, all of which do nothing for her…so she let me step in!

Gahhhd I love giving makeovers.

She’s 54. The last makeover I did was on my best friend (click here), so this was a change for certain. :} I brought out some products, both from mine and her makeup bags, and tried to find the perfect natural lighting.

Compared to my twelve-year-old friend, my mom has a lot more to conceal and cover. Her main problem is redness and impurities, along  with the sparseness of her lashes and brows. However, she’s got beautiful green/hazel eyes that I want to be her main feature!

So here’s before the makeup!

And AFTER!!

IMG_6250

A BB Cream and concealer covered most blemishes and age spots, including redness under the nose. I blended out with a sponge to get a more smooth, airbrushed look, and topped it with powder.

I really wanted to bring out that olive glow in her skin, so I put a warm-toned highlighter on the high points of her face to really brighten it up. Blush didn’t seem needed, I was aiming for a more warm, soft appeal, not pinched, sparkly cheeks.

EYES ARE MY FAVORITE PART!! I love eyes. For my mom, I filled in her brows (not too much, just to give them a little more shape and definition), then started to layer colors on her lids. First a gold, a champagne in the center, a soft taupe in the crease. Black mascara seemed to harsh for this look, so I used a brown instead.

For lips, I picked a natural, peach color with a gloss finish.

The resulting look was natural enough to not look overdone, but just enough to make a difference. You can see older women who cake themselves with makeup to cover themselves, but my mom is not one of them. This look lets herself shine through! ^_^

Afterwards, she wore her makeup all day long! I’m going to have to give her a lesson on how to apply it herself someday.

But let’s be real. My mom doesn’t really care what other people think about her OR how she looks.

She told me that “As you get older, you care less.”

Have a great night, my Curly-Fries!<3

How-To: Finding the PERFECT Nude Lipstick

Okay, guys, seriously. It makes me NUTS to see someone wearing a nude color that makes it look like they ate a box of powdered donuts.

NUTS.

I mean, who wants to look like a total ice-queen? …UH HUH, guuuurrrl, dat ain’t you. (Unless it’s Halloween or something!)

To most people these days, a nude lip means COMPLETELY ERASING YOUR NATURAL COLOR. Well, ladies, I’m glad to inform you that any natural-looking color (FROM PINK, TO PEACH, TO BERRY) can be certified as a “nude”.

So, here’s my Basic Nude Lip Guide for all skin tones under the sun!

nude lipstick

FAIR: When you’re pale, pale, pale, nudes that have a pink undertone will look best! Light rosy tones and soft peaches will look nice too…but STAY AWAY from anything flat beige!  Beige will wash. You. Out.

BUFF: Buff, or “beige, fawn, sandy, ect.” is a very common category to be in! If you have more warm, golden undertones, I suggest you work with caramel or honey-toned nudes, and not anything too silver. NO silver frost. NO white undertone. NO cool colors. NO grayish shades.

OLIVE: In my biased opinion, olive is a lovely skin color. I strongly suggest salmon pinks or golden bronzes to make your skin color POP!

TAWNY: You know what I’m talking about when I say tawny! Like that warm, golden caramel color, ya know? Think Beyonce! Halle Berry! Rihanna! Light pinks, creamy caramel colors, or golden beiges, all will look stunning on you! If you’re into glitter, look for something with gold flecks. :}

EBONY: For all darker girls out there, you can rock your chocolate and raisin shades, or warm bronzes!

Anyway, this is just some basic guidelines! Finding YOUR favorite is often like searching for a nice pair of jeans…it may take some time, and guaranteed trail and error!

Hope I helped!

Au revoir, chère!

How-To: Highlighting/Bronzing

Highlighting or, urm, “luminizing” is a trick that not everyone needs to know. Giving that extra glow is sometimes unnecessary, but who says it can’t be a useful trick to learn?

Image

Above is a basic highlighting/bronzing chart. Both of these products are all about building up intensity, you should NEVER, EVER just dust some all over and call it good. Take caution!

BRONZER 411

With bronzer, you shouldn’t be creating bones that aren’t there, you should just be enhancing what you naturally have. Plus, you should pick a color that complements your skin tone! If you’re pale, go for pinkier or peachier bronzers, stray from anything orangey (you’ll look all ruddy and gross.) If you’re darker, go for more cinnamon or golden tones!

Same goes for highlighter. Warm skin= warm, golden highlighter. Cool skin= pink highlighter. Neutral skin= your pick. Image

The most important thing with these two products is to find a formula that you like. Powders are the most popular, but they have creams, liquids, you name it!

No matter what formula, start with small patting or brushing motions, continuously building up the product until it looks good!

Hope I helped some! ^_^

Talk to you lovely people soon!

My “Wishful Thinking” Spring Outift

It seems like all the spring trends are always bright and blah: patterns, bright colors, statement shoes, bright eyewear, and the like. Let me tell you a secret, ladies…You don’t have to depend on the guidance of fashion mags for what to wear!

During the sunny, crisp days of spring, there’ so much inspiration in the weather and nature! Here’s my “wishful thinking” spring outfit WISHES, and WANTS:

First off, I found this hair bow on Etsy.com, my SAVIOR for all things cute and unique!

Image As you can see, it’s a very soft, delicate pattern, with very soft, delicate colors! The pearl accent adds to the vintage touch, and it looks girly without being TOO “little-girlish”.

I also LOVE LOVE LOVE the color mint for springtime!! Seriously. Mint is soo refreshing, sweet, and screams “Spring! Spring is here!”

Image

I just typed into Google “mint dress” and a bazillion options came up! This one is the “Filled With Merri-Ment Dress” from Modcloth. If I had this dress I would literally die. It’s so adorable!!

Image

Where I’m from, it’s mildly dewy in the spring. I like prancing around in cute little rain boots, splashing in puddles and what not. Doing happy-dances in the rain! Skipping through the damp grass!!! These. Are. So. Sweet. I adore the color…it’s like peaches and cream! These are Hunter Rain Boots from Bloomingdales, in the color “Flame”.

PLUS one jacket! Again, from Modcloth.

Image Meet “The Wheel Tough Gal Jacket”! Paired with the feminine, dainty pieces, it adds a nice contrast because it has a rebellious touch.

Anyway..I hope I didn’t bore you all to death! What are some of YOUR favorite things to wear for spring?

Luv ya!

Starting a Diet, & New Fave Gloss

So I’m starting a diet…weighing about 126-127 pounds. I just thought that making little blogs to document my progress would help somewhat! I want to be healthy, ya know? Not a 90 pound model who vomits up every meal and is constantly poppin’ diet pills.

I used to weigh 117, but then the holidays happened.  I really want to get back down to where I was!

BUT ENOUGH ABOUT THAT. Let’s talk lip gloss.

You guys know I love my lippies. I recently bought NYC’s Liquid Lip Shine in “Brighton Beach Peach”. It’s, like, the perf nude.

Image

It has a straight, thin, flexible applicator that applies on the gloss smoothly. I swear these are a dupe for MAC lipglosses!! They smell like vanilla cupcakes, and stay on a decent amount of time..so they may become my yearlong favorite.

Anyway, if you’re looking for a sweet burst of peachy color that smells like dessert, check out Brighton Beach Peach!

And wish me luck on my diet, guys. I really want to get healthy by bikini season! ;}

Mwah. Peace!

My Favorite Nude Lipstick on Planet Earth

Hey guys, I’d like to show you something very special…

Out of all my lipsticks, creams and shimmers, glosses, pencils and other miscellaneous lip products, this is my favorite nude out of them all. She’s stuck by me for a loooong time.

This is maybe my most favorite lipstick EVER.

I’d like to introduce you to Smashbox’s “Be Legendary” Lipstick in “Chai”. Gaahd, I love her so.

It’s a creamy, warm, peachy-toned nude that’s PERFECT. It’s not too light, or too pink, or too fleshy-toned. It’s sort of a yellow-toned, brown-peachy chocolate color. It’s not as dead-looking as the swatches on the Smashbox website.

This is my actual tube:

IMG_2286

As you can tell, it’s a bit worn down. I used to wear this color every day and night, because it’s the kind of nude that can look dramatic or subtle. It’s glossy, it’s creamy, it’s LUXURIOUS. If you have cool under tones, or prefer beige or pinky nude lipsticks, this wouldn’t work for you.

IMG_2289

On my hand it looks a lot like milk chocolate, but on my skin it looks way different. It looks a bit rosier. Not as brown. To me, instead of “Chai”, the name “Chocolate Peach” is a lot more fitting. Or maybe “Coco Peach”. IDK. Something chocolate and peachy. It sounds delicious anyway :}

I purchase this at Sephora. But you can also purchase them here! Go Smashbox!!!!

Anyway…peace out guys! What’s your favorite nude lipstick? You can leave your faves in the comments!
