Makeover With My Mom!!

Soo, today was a good day. I had my first day of high school, AND I got to give my mom a makeover!

My mom is totally clueless about makeup. She usually only wears a couple products, all of which do nothing for her…so she let me step in!

Gahhhd I love giving makeovers.

She’s 54. The last makeover I did was on my best friend (click here), so this was a change for certain. :} I brought out some products, both from mine and her makeup bags, and tried to find the perfect natural lighting.

Compared to my twelve-year-old friend, my mom has a lot more to conceal and cover. Her main problem is redness and impurities, along  with the sparseness of her lashes and brows. However, she’s got beautiful green/hazel eyes that I want to be her main feature!

So here’s before the makeup!

And AFTER!!

A BB Cream and concealer covered most blemishes and age spots, including redness under the nose. I blended out with a sponge to get a more smooth, airbrushed look, and topped it with powder.

I really wanted to bring out that olive glow in her skin, so I put a warm-toned highlighter on the high points of her face to really brighten it up. Blush didn’t seem needed, I was aiming for a more warm, soft appeal, not pinched, sparkly cheeks.

EYES ARE MY FAVORITE PART!! I love eyes. For my mom, I filled in her brows (not too much, just to give them a little more shape and definition), then started to layer colors on her lids. First a gold, a champagne in the center, a soft taupe in the crease. Black mascara seemed to harsh for this look, so I used a brown instead.

For lips, I picked a natural, peach color with a gloss finish.

The resulting look was natural enough to not look overdone, but just enough to make a difference. You can see older women who cake themselves with makeup to cover themselves, but my mom is not one of them. This look lets herself shine through! ^_^

Afterwards, she wore her makeup all day long! I’m going to have to give her a lesson on how to apply it herself someday.

But let’s be real. My mom doesn’t really care what other people think about her OR how she looks.

She told me that “As you get older, you care less.”

Have a great night, my Curly-Fries!<3
