4 Fave Summer Lippies!

Hi everyone! ❤

If you have stuck with me for a while, you know how I feel about lipsticks and glosses.

I luuuuuuv dem.

Anyway, summer’s coming to a close, so why not share some fresh, summery colors that I loved this season??

LET’S GET MOVIN’.

So for starters, I’m going to show TWO drugstore lippies first, then two high-end. My top drugstore lipstick choice is Revlon Super-Lustrous Lipstick in “Coral Berry”, a sweet, candied coral color that is totally reminiscent of MAC’s “Vegas Volt”. It’s creamy and fresh, perfect for a day of lounging at the beach! Image

Next, I chose a drugstore gloss that is really easy to top on anything. I picked out NYC’s Liquid Lipshine in “Nude York City” because it complements my skin tone really nicely. It’s that perfect, beachy nude that looks great on anyone! Plus, I love the applicator; it applies the color nice and even.

NOW, let’s check out two high-end lip products :3

Not gonna lie, it was a hard decision.

First, as a lipstick, I chose one from Clinique, that’s a really easy color to wear. It’s Clinique Buttershine Lipstick in “Fresh Watermelon”, a nice, deep red-pink with some sparkle. It glides on deliciously, and illuminates your pout with a light glossy look, positively beautiful! To be honest, this summer I didn’t wear a lot of lipstick, but I love this color. It gives your mouth a “I just drank fruit punch” look, very kissable.

My high-end gloss is one from MAC. Truth be told, the only high-end glosses I own are from MAC, because there’s some KILLER drugstore glosses out there!!! I picked a lustreglass in “Wonderstruck”, a warm, shimmery pink. I like it because it’s got an opaque look on the lip, so you can just put it on and go. It’s effortless, it’s long-lasting, it’s perfection. AND it smells like cupcakes!

I’m so sad summer’s almost over!!!!! We have to make the best of it, right?

I Have A Secret…

Can I tell you guys a secret?

Well…I suppose it’s more of a quirk.

And I have a lot of freaking quirks.

ANYWAAYS. I have this…umm…quirk. It’s something I do all the fudgin’ time. I honestly hope I’m not the only one who does this, because then I’ll feel realllllly weird.

But, whenever I’m over at someone’s house (usually someone I don’t visit too often), I’ll…um. I’ll look through their makeup.

I’ll read every bottle, open every tube of lipstick and marvel at the color, pick through each potion and lotion like a nosey freak. BUT, I do NOT do this for the purpose to be nosey! In my opinion, makeup tells a LOT about a person. Are they the shampoo-hoarding types, or do they secretly have a double for every lipgloss? Are they the lip-balm-and-clear-mascara types, or do they have their counter buckling under the weight of cosmetics from Dior, Chanel, and Estee Lauder?

Because I have a huge fascination with beauty, I will admire each brush, each compact, with an astonishing curiosity. THIS is what they put on their faces?

Then, when I’m done, I’ll put it all back EXACTLY how it was before, wether strewn about, or tucked neatly into a little makeup pouch.

I especially loved doing this when I was a little girl. Beauty has always been a source of fascination for me.

I can still remember a time not long ago, when I was a teeny lil munchkin, with my first tube of lipstick and palette of eyeshadow. The lipstick was very pink, very glittery, and smelled very, very sweet, and I distinctly remember wearing royal blue or lime green on my eyes. YIKES!

…..Anyway I though I just might want to share my um “quirk”.

Do any of you guys do anything similar? I hope so. I just thought I should share. :}

Peace!!

How-To: The Hanna Marin Look

Aloha, my elegant ladies.

How many of you watch Pretty Little Liars? Well…if you are like me, totally absorbed in all the secrets, scandal, thrill, and mystery of the show, this is a look inspired off of one of my favorite liars..Hanna Marin.

hanna

This is a look that should look great on everyone. Hanna sports a very sensual smokey-eye that is usually brown or black, paired with a pretty pink lip. With her wide blue eyes, golden curls, and flawless, alabaster skin, she looks very innocent, but the smokey eye gives her an unexpected edge.

Here’s what you need to achieve an air of mystery:

IMG_4729

  • A coverage of your choice, but stray from anything super-matte! (Think fresh-face, NOT cake-face!)
  • Highlighter
  • A pretty pink blush
  • Brow definer (This is one step you shouldn’t skip!)
  • Eye primer
  • Brown eyeshadows (chocolates, ambers, taupes, ect.)
  • Black or brown eyeliner
  • Mascara (the blacker, the better!)
  • Light pink lipstick
  • Lipgloss (Optional)

The first step is to erase all your flaws, which is basically EVERYTHING, from crinkles, to wrinkles, to dark circles! Hanna’s skin is perfect, smooth, and luminous, what I like to call “baby-skin”. Make sure to work in thin layers, and blend, blend, blend. You want your skin to look fresh and radiant!

And before you think twice, a highlighter is a must-have for this look. Like I said, Hanna has super-glowy skin. Make sure you don’t go over-board, a little on the high points on the face is enough. Adding a layer of blush will give that extra touch, but make sure you pick a cream, satin, or matte formula, NO glitter.

Before we move onto the eyes, let’s give our brows some looove.! My brows are kind of sparse, so I filled them in. Make sure you arch your brows, because your eyes need a good frame. ;}

When you get to the eyes, make sure your lids are prepped and primed. This look is all about playing up your eyes, so you better prepare yourself.

First off, start layering your shadows. I started with a taupe on my lids, which is a super-universal color. Then I dabbed a soft brown on the outer third of my eye, and ended with a darker color in the crease. You want to feather these colors into each other, so it has a natural gradience. With the darker colors, you can build them up to a certain intensity, but you don’t need to go super harsh.

When we get to eyeliner, THAT’S where things start getting totes cray-cray. In my mind, Hanna’s eyeliner is her signature. In a lot of her looks, it’s really thick and smudged…the epitome of sultry! Draw on your line and smudge it with a Q-Tip or a brush, but only a little bit! Then line your waterline too; it makes a huge difference. But don’t forget about mascara, that’s just as important!

The final step is the easiest: Lipstick and gloss. Hanna’s lips are never super-bold, so stick with your soft, pearly pinks.

Aand now you’re finished, lovely. ❤

Summer Beauty 411

Okay, ya’ll ladies probably have a slight idea of what summer beauty’s all about.

No more dark lipstick, cream makeup, bundled-up fashion, or anything of that sort is allowed! :}

Seriously! In the summer, it’s all about color, color, color. Your goal is to not try to look like a super-skinny, pale waif, your goal is to look like you! ❤  jehane_paris_delias_swimsuit_0013_yYBotav.sized

In the summertime, I like to have the lightest possible makeup routine. Some mineral powder, lip gloss, and mascara is really all you need.

Who wants to look plastered by the poolside? NOT you, girly.

HERE’S SOME PRODUCTS I LOVE FOR THE WARM WEATHER:

First, I chose Flirt PLUSHIOUS Liquid Velvet Lip Color in “Flirt Alert”. It’s a perfect summer color, like fruit punch!flirtlips

PLUS, it’s glossy and fun and makes your lips look so juicy!

And then, of course, you may ask about foundation. Hun, here’s a rule: NO CREAMS, only light liquids and powders. matte-mineral-makeup

My summer foundation is Bare Minerals Matte. I love the stuff! If you want a healthy, flawless glow, check this stuff out.

And that’s all for today, folks! See you all soon!

How-To: A Natural Face

Hey my lovely, fresh-faced beauties!

In the makeup world, a natural, or “nude” face means fully-dressed. It shouldn’t be hiding your features, it should be enhancing them…which is why everyone can wear this look!

Simply put, you’re just playing up what you like about your face. Do you have large, expressive eyes? Perfect cheekbones? Glowing skin? Full lips? Pick ONE feature, because that feature should be the focal point.

Here’s what you’ll need to get that “natural” beauty:

IMG_2846

  • Foundation or coverage of your choice (BB Cream, mineral powder, ect.)
  • Concealer
  • Pressed powder to set
  • A favorite blush/bronzer
  • Highlighter
  • Eye base or primer
  • Natural eyeshadow
  • Mascara
  • Brow powder and gel
  • Lipstick
  • Lipgloss

(P.S: You don’t have to use all of the products I mentioned..you can pick and choose what to add or take away!)

Anyway, let’s start!

The first step is simple, yet difficult, so prepare yourself! You need to create a perfect, smooth, flawless complexion.

I exfoliated my skin and put on some moisturizer first, so my skin would be prepped and primed. When you’re applying your coverage, be extremely careful! In one flash of a powder puff you can go totally cake-faced. (If you turned cake-faced, check out this past post for salvation.)

The next part is ten times easier! Blush and highlighter! I love a good blush…the right shade can make such a difference in how someone looks. I chose one with subtle gold veining, so it can really make my cheeks pop! The secret in a nicely flushed complexion is LESS is MORE, so be sure to tap off any excess of your blush brush! I usually add a light dusting of highlighter on the tops of my cheekbones.

In this look, I decided to play up my eyes. Before I added any shadow, I put on a cream base to intensify the colors I would layer over it. I chose dreamy, subtle colors that would really make my brown eyes glow. Then, because my brows are sparse, I filled them in and set them with a clear gel. The eyes are the windows to the soul, and windows need good frames! A wise Youtuber once said, “Your brows should be like sisters, not twins.”, so you shouldn’t go to extremes to make them look identical.

The final step is my personal favorite, the lips, one of the most seductive things about a face. Before any lipstick or gloss, you should have them exfoliated and moisturized. I chose a nude lipstick color, but you could pick any soft, natural color  you like. I like to add gloss on top too, it makes your lips look softer, younger, and plumper.

And you are dooooone, hun! ;}

PRODUCTS I USED:

  • Dr. Jart+ Premium Beauty Balm SPF 45
  • Mineral Fusion Concealer Duo in “Neutral”
  • Clinique Stay-Matte Pressed Powder in “Stay Buff”
  • Milani Blush in “Dolce Pink”
  • Wet ‘N Wild Color Icon Bronzer in “Reserve Your Cabana”
  • Maybelline Color Tattoo in “Barely Branded”
  • Smashbox Eyelights Palette in “Flash”
  • Real Colors Whip Lash Ultimate Mascara in “Extreme Black”
  • Zuzu Luxe Lipstick in “Ultra Suede”
  • NYC Liquid Lipshine in “Nude York City”

You should look and feel really fresh and confident, like you’re not wearing much of anything, but  still put-together and polished.

I hope you guys enjoyed this how-to. After all, it’s basically my everyday look in a nutshell!

Four Products I Regret Buying

I admit, I don’t feel that bad sharing makeup products I’m not happy with. So here’s some of the most recent buys I wish I could take back!

#1 Revlon ColorStay 16 Hour Eyeshadow Palette in Decadent

IMG_9091

I’m really sad I didn’t like these, because the colors are totally gorgeous in the palette. It reminds me of a sweet dessert, or a romantic, elegant atmosphere full of candles, roses, and soft, passionate kisses. It came with a light pink shade, a medium, yellow-brown shade, a pinky champagne shade, and a plummy shade, tucked into a sleek little case with a sponge applicator. The sad thing IS, these colors were gritty, dusty, and generally washed-out! NO WAY did they last 16 hours, let alone five, without creasing. It was really disappointing, especially because I had such high hopes!

#2 Pixi Succulent Lip Twin in Coral Camellia

2048699-p-MULTIVIEW

This was a bad product for me.

I love the idea of two products in one, but the color looked really tacky on my complexion and it felt really sticky on my skin and lips. The rounded part, as well, was a tricky sitch. The cap almost ALWAYS took chunks of product out of that little round doodad, which made me sort of P.Oed, because that was the part of the product I actually sort of LIKED. The gloss part, however, is a different story. It’s sticky, loud, and smells and tastes horrible, so overall it’s not my  favorite lip product.

#3: Revlon Fabulash Mascara

revlon-fabulash-mascara

I seriously want this mascara to go and die in a hole. It smells like a bunch of people all umm…well..peed in a bottle, added black pigments, shook it up, and sold it by the tube.

For starters, the brush doesn’t coat your lashes evenly and you end up having thick, lumpy, lashes that smell sour and musty. Plus, it dries all crackly-crispy, and flakes down your face all day long!! AND, when you first apply it, it’s all gooey, gloppy and clumpy, like bubblegum, and makes your lashes look totally funky!

I just want to throw this mascara off a cliff. It’s terrible.

#4 Avon Lip Slicks in Glossy Opal and Glossy Rose

img-thing - CopyHmm. “Slick Tint.” The name just sounds sort of gross to me.

Truthfully, I purchased these when I was a great deal younger and had almost no knowledge of cosmetics. The pretty-colored Slick-Tints caught my eye, and I bought two with no second thoughts.

It smells like cheap, super-fruity lipstick, and burns my lips when I put it on. Glossy Rose is a hot pink shade that looks like cake-frosting, and Glossy Opal is a slightly-sheer, yellow color that looks nearly white. On me, they both make me look like a little girl that’s been playing with mama’s makeup, which I’m not too crazy about.

Anywayyy I’m sorry if this is too negative! If you have tried any of the products above, let me know how they worked out!

I love hearing from you guys.
