FOTD

Well technically, this is a “face of yesterday.”<3  Haha

I wore this today, but it’s nearly midnight so I guess it’s “yesterday”. If that makes any sense.Image

This look is very no-fuss. I went to the zoo, so I didn’t exactly “pull out the big guns”. I just popped on some coverage, a dab of eyeshadow, and a topping of gloss. Simple, easy-peasy.

Image

I apologize…I can make extremely strange faces. Hopefully this squinty-eyed, puckered-lipped, peace-signed one above didn’t scar you for life.

My coverage wasn’t great..I used Maybelline’s Fit Me Concealer in #10 dotted under my eyes and on a few problem areas. It has a powder finish, so no powder was needed!

Image

As you can see, I have a light lilac eye and a shimmery, cherry-pink lip. When you see the lips up close, they really are super GLITTERY.

I was going out with the family, so I didn’t want to put on the cat-eye liner, falsies, and dramatic lipstick. It wasn’t like I was going to be walking the red carpet…more like modeling for a spring Vogue photo shoot, or a first date, or school. I wanted to look fresh but NOT overdone.

Image

So my eyes were kind of a mix of palettes. I was short on time, so I just kinda winged it.

I used an Estee Lauder Double-Wear ShadowCreme in “Gold Dust” all over my lids and up to my brow bone to provide a warm base. Then I piled on Urban Decay’s “Sin”, “Fishnet”, and “Stray Dog”.

Image

On my lips I just used a lip balm as a base, but you could use anything from Chapstick to MAC’s fancy shmancy lip conditioner. Then, I used MAC Lustreglass in “Wonderstruck”. It’s soooo glittery and wonderful!

And just for fun, I’m going to include what I put in my travel bag.

ISABELLA’S TRAVEL BAG

Soooooo we were at the zoo for a pretty long time. Afterwards we ate, then stopped at Dutch Bros, then Walmart, and by the time we got home I was soooo tired.

When I’m at the zoo/fair/airport/mall/ect., I HATE lugging around a huge bag unless there’s somewhere to set it. I planned ahead this time though, and only had a small wristlet.

Image

It was just big enough to hold everything I needed. Which was:

Oil blotting tissues

Lip gloss for touch-ups

Hair ties

Small dental floss

Cell phone

To me, that’s all you need on the go. Sure, a little pressed powder wouldn’t hurt, but hey, I was at the ZOO. It would seem stupid to run off somewhere looking for a bathroom to touch-up your powder when your looking at elephants and other beautiful creatures!!

Lip gloss isn’t as much of a hassle to reapply in public.

If you guys have any questions or anything of that sort, leave it in the comments. I honestly really enjoy hearing your guys’s opinions and feedback. Did you like my look?

‘Night!

Small Beauty Haul

WELCOME, welcome, one and all, to Isabella’s short beauty haul! I promise to keep it short and sweet!

BUT FIRST, I have quite a tale to share with you.

When I went out and found these things, I was quite…um…apprehensive. I bought them at a factory outlet mall, in a place called “Cosmetics Company Store”.

It was a very shady place, the testers were all MUTILATED, (the cream shadows were either dried out or completely melted, the lipsticks had chunks taken out of them, ect.), plus, all the cosmetics were really dirty. Everything was smeared with mascara, including some of their makeup pouches on display, and some brands (example: MAC) had products from old lines that were discontinued YEARS ago.

Anyway, I walked away with two items I’m very happy with. Thankfully.

One was from Bobbi Brown (my first product from her line!), and the next was from Smashbox.

The thing I got from Bobbi Brown was a “pot rouge for the lips and cheeks”, in the color “Raspberry”, a wonderful, rich, berry color. It’s great.

Image

As you can see, it comes in a cute compact that’s small enough to fit in your jeans pocket. The color that comes off can be quite rich, or sheer, depending on how you layer it. I prefer the “stained” look. Thanks to the moisturizing formula, it makes you lips look really full, healthy, and soft. IMG_2559

(Sorry for my pasty, winter skin! Hopefully this spring break I can get tan!)

The next thing I picked up was a Smashbox “eyelights” palette in “Flash”.

4a1ad4ae854fc79df48100ba3333a657_best

It has classic Smashbox packaging: Very sleek, matte, and black, with the signature “Smashbox” across the front. The colors are beautiful, and they include a light, golden peach, a mauve pink, and a mossy green. They come off rich, metallic, AND can be used wet or dry! HOLLA!

Anyway..I’m really happy to share my haul with you (plus reviews!) I hope they were helpful!

Mwah. Tootles!

Four Products I Regret Buying

I admit, I don’t feel that bad sharing makeup products I’m not happy with. So here’s some of the most recent buys I wish I could take back!

#1 Revlon ColorStay 16 Hour Eyeshadow Palette in Decadent

IMG_9091

I’m really sad I didn’t like these, because the colors are totally gorgeous in the palette. It reminds me of a sweet dessert, or a romantic, elegant atmosphere full of candles, roses, and soft, passionate kisses. It came with a light pink shade, a medium, yellow-brown shade, a pinky champagne shade, and a plummy shade, tucked into a sleek little case with a sponge applicator. The sad thing IS, these colors were gritty, dusty, and generally washed-out! NO WAY did they last 16 hours, let alone five, without creasing. It was really disappointing, especially because I had such high hopes!

#2 Pixi Succulent Lip Twin in Coral Camellia

2048699-p-MULTIVIEW

This was a bad product for me.

I love the idea of two products in one, but the color looked really tacky on my complexion and it felt really sticky on my skin and lips. The rounded part, as well, was a tricky sitch. The cap almost ALWAYS took chunks of product out of that little round doodad, which made me sort of P.Oed, because that was the part of the product I actually sort of LIKED. The gloss part, however, is a different story. It’s sticky, loud, and smells and tastes horrible, so overall it’s not my  favorite lip product.

#3: Revlon Fabulash Mascara

revlon-fabulash-mascara

I seriously want this mascara to go and die in a hole. It smells like a bunch of people all umm…well..peed in a bottle, added black pigments, shook it up, and sold it by the tube.

For starters, the brush doesn’t coat your lashes evenly and you end up having thick, lumpy, lashes that smell sour and musty. Plus, it dries all crackly-crispy, and flakes down your face all day long!! AND, when you first apply it, it’s all gooey, gloppy and clumpy, like bubblegum, and makes your lashes look totally funky!

I just want to throw this mascara off a cliff. It’s terrible.

#4 Avon Lip Slicks in Glossy Opal and Glossy Rose

img-thing - CopyHmm. “Slick Tint.” The name just sounds sort of gross to me.

Truthfully, I purchased these when I was a great deal younger and had almost no knowledge of cosmetics. The pretty-colored Slick-Tints caught my eye, and I bought two with no second thoughts.

It smells like cheap, super-fruity lipstick, and burns my lips when I put it on. Glossy Rose is a hot pink shade that looks like cake-frosting, and Glossy Opal is a slightly-sheer, yellow color that looks nearly white. On me, they both make me look like a little girl that’s been playing with mama’s makeup, which I’m not too crazy about.

Anywayyy I’m sorry if this is too negative! If you have tried any of the products above, let me know how they worked out!

I love hearing from you guys.

How-To: Smoky Eye

I don’t know anything sexier than a well-done smoky eye. Who can’t rock this look? It’s totally universal..just pick the right colors and your good to go.

Plus, it’s really carefree, smudgy, edgy, messy, ect. NOT nit picky. Have fun with it!

So here’s what you’ll need to achieve that seductive stare:

IMG_2343

  • An eyeshadow primer
  • Your favorite mascara
  • Eyeshadow colors of your preference (you need a lid color, a crease color, a dark, smoky color, and a highlight)
  • Optional: Eyeliner

First things first. Prime, prime, prime! Primer is one of the most important steps, so don’t skip it. QUICK TIP: Less is more. You don’t want a goopy, sticky mess on your lid from using too much product.

Now, the actual fun part. The eyeshadow! Take your lid color first and pat it on your lid. Easy-peasy, right? Now, go in with the crease color, shading in the crease of your eye. This should subtly make your eyes a little more dramatic. Then, taking your darkest color, and layer it over the crease color, blending it out to create a smoky gradience. You can layer more color until you get the feel you want, but don’t go totally Racoon-esque. Taking your highlight, dust it on your brow bone and in the corner of your eyes.

Next, put on your mascara. If you really want to, you can put a little eyeliner on your top lid and waterline, but it’s totally optional!

Aaand you’re done, hun. And you look SMOKIN’. ;}

IMG_2369 PRODUCTS USED:

  • Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer in “Original”
  • Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow in “Velvet Crush” with UD Eyeshadow in “Sin”
  • Whiplash Ultimate Mascara
  • Maybelline Eyestudio Eyeliner in “Blackest Black”

Anyway, smoky eyes are pretty chill. Mine’s very hazy and casual, but I love it. ❤

With smoky eyes, I strongly suggest you play around with fun colors. Because it’s a more, well, “smoky” look, it gives you a lot more flexibility to use bright shades on your lids to add an extra pop.

Thanks so much guys!!!. Talk to you soon.

Rimmel Scandal Eyes Eyeshadow Sticks

I bought these a couple days ago, and was freaking out over them! I was bowing down to their existence. I was loving them obsessively.

But after a day or two of trying them out, I’m not sure what I think of these.

ImageThis is a swatch of the two colors I purchased “Tempting Turquoise” and “Paranoid Purple”. They were both a little glittery, not shimmery, but not SO glittery it was screaming into people’s faces.

Tempting Turquoise was WAHBAAAAAM..bright. If you guys have seen that one thick, neon stripe across model’s eyelids on the catwalks a lot, you can totally recapture the look with this color. It’s SOO bright and pigmented, but use it sparingly!

Paranoid Purple was okay. I liked it a little. I mean, it’s OKAY. The purple color is beautiful, but you can’t blend it as easily as Tempting Turquoise, and it seems to smear and smudge more.

A WORD ABOUT BOTH OF THESE:

These are super creamy and pigmented, but they last much longer with a primer or base underneath, OR with a shadow on top. You may also have trouble smudging out the color with your finger after you apply it, because it sets fast and  the color sheers out once you blend.

And still, I’ll probably go back for more. For 5 or 6 bucks a pencil, that’s pretty decent considering the prices of other cream shadows.

If you check them out, let me know how they work out for you!

A New Fave

Hey my beautifuls!

I know it’s been a few days before I blogged, but I want to introduce you to a new brand I’ve been trying out. It’s called Mineral Fusion, and I swear it’s love.

I recently bought an eyeshadow trio, a radiance face powder, and a lip liner, but it’s the trio that really caught my attention.

ImageIt’s called “Stunning”, and it is, indeed, STUNNING. Like, just look at it. The colors are so warm and creamy, like a melty chocolate drink. It works for any eye color, except maybe girls with pinky or cool undertones, then the warm, yellow-based colors may look somewhat strange.

But anyway, this is more buttery than Urban Decay. I swear. It’s almost like a cream, but still a powder, it’s just so soft and so effortlessly pigmented! With a primer, it stays on all day long with no budge or fall-out. But it was till prettyyy pricey.

You can get them here, but I purchased mine at a local Co-Op.

Anyway, I missed ya. See you guys soon!

Dupe for a dupe?

Hey guys!

Soo, as you know, the Maybelline Color Tattoo thingy was very hyped up in the beauty world. Very creamy, long-wearing, but known to fade. A possible dupe for MACs Paint Pots.

Image

They usually cost about 7-8 dollars. But what if I told you, I had a DUPE for a dupe that costed about 5 or 6 bucks? That’s more portable than the Color Tattoos. That has such similar colors, it’s crazy!!!

Well…everyone give a round of applause to the Rimmel Scandal Eyes Eyeshadow Sticks! Image

They’re creamy, easy to blend, easy to build, long-wearing, and so pigmented it knocked my socks off. I have “Paranoid Purple” and “Tempting Turquoise”. The purple shade is very, very dark eggplant purple, and the turquoise shade is bright, sort of shimmery, and BEAUTIFUL. It’s very “POW!”, ya know?

If you want a full review, let me know, guys!

Fave Drugstore Shadow

Oooh the drugstore. Great beauty products for a low price!! I have a modest collection of drugstore products, but this is something that really stands out!!

It’s the Wet ‘N’ Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio in “Sweet As Candy”. images

I use this trio all the time!! The colors are buttery, long-lasting, and SO pigmented I can’t even explain!!! You just need to barely tap your brush into the product and you’ve got a ton of color, plus it’s very portable and has your three basics. A light, warm creamy shade, a dark chocolate brown, and a candy pink, for super-sweet eyes.

It comes with a tiny, stumpy eyeshadow brush and a disposable sponge applicator, and has a diagram on the back of where to put the color. awwil

The colors are beautiful, as well. TOTALLY like candy, with maybe a little shimmer in the pink. Their not really matte, but their not super glittery or shimmery either. Their like satin.

Anywayyyyyyz. Just wanted to share this gorgeous little find!

And sorry I’ve been gone for so long, things have been quite hectic lately. Bleh. I’m glad to be back, though! ❤

UD Fun Palette: Bite-Sized Review

Hehe hey my cutiepies!

This is a palette I purchased recently, that has to be my go-to!

Here…let me explain why….

Image

The URBAN DECAY FUN PALETTE. A festive rainbow of buttery seductiveness! Gorgeous shades for all eye colors!! AUGHHHHH CAN IT BE TRUE? DO MY EYES DECEIVE ME?

For one: The colors are sooooo buttery and light, it’s not like you’re wearing eyeshadow at all! For two: The colors are very pigmented, fun and playful. (I especially love Fishnet for my brown eyes!!) For three: They all go together so beautifully! And PLUS: The packaging is to DIE FOR.

This has to be the most beautiful UD palette I’ve ever seen!! (Besides Naked, of course.)

Nothing says “ooh la-la” more than a flatteringly smudged, rock-star eye, with depth and light in all the right place, fringy lashes, and a full, pouty lip.

You should totally check this out, it’s a steal! Six UD eyeshadows (18 bucks each) for 36 DOLLAS? Hell to the yeah!

Anyways, have a fun, colorful day! Talk to you soon.

Sweet Purple Smoke

Hi starlets and makeup mavens!

This is a look I wore yesterday, and it has to be one of my favorite ones I have ever done. ImageImageImage

The products I used on my eyes were the Urban Decay shadows in “Fishnet” and “Freakshow”, with Sephora Full Action Extreme Effect Mascara on my lashes. Fishnet is a light, buttery almost iridescent lilac, and Freakshow’s a purple matte color that I layered on my crease to give it that slightly smoky effect.

On my skin I’m wearing Dr. Jart SPF 45 PA+++ BB Cream, with Clinique Stay Matte pressed powder on top. :}

And, last but not least, on my lips I’m wearing MAC Cremesheen Lipstick in Hot Gossip!

Just wanted to show ya what I wore, and wondered your thoughts! I named this look “Sweet Purple Smoke” because it’s like a sweet, subtle, slightly smoky eye that looks sort of sultry, but also whimsical and fun at the same time.

P.S: SORRY IF I’VE BEEN OVER-LOADING YOUR FEED WITH POSTS. I don’t have any homework today so that equals more blogging time! :}
