Whole Lotta Candy

December 1st. LET THE HOLIDAYS BEGIN!!

I hope you all haven’t forgotten me…I know I took a lengthly break. But hey. At least I’m one trimester done with being a freshman! ;D

You guys know how this goes: as soon as Christmas starts rolling around, brands come out with lots of value sets or little stocking-stuffer type products. I was at the Clinique counter the other day, and this cute threesome caught my eye. It was SO adorable!

If you guys have stuck around on my  blog for even a little bit, you’ll know I’m a girl who is totally lip product obsessed! A set with three mini chubby sticks (usually 17 bucks each), all for $25? I am sold.

This set comes with “Pudgy Peony”, “Voluptuous Violet”, and “Two Ton Tomato”.

Or, the fuchsia one, the purple one, and the red one.

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I hate the name “Two Ton Tomato.”

IMG_7534

“What are you wearing on your lips?” “Oh, it’s ‘Two Ton Tomato’.”

Blechhh.

Anywayyyys. The colors have different payoffs, so here’s the jist of it:

Pudgy Peony: A great fuchsia/berry shade. Most pigmented of the three.

Voluptuous Violet: Sheer purple gloss.

Two Ton Tomato: Pretty red tint that you can build up to higher intensity.

 IMG_7536

The colors don’t last particularly long, either, so I find you have to reapply them. I don’t really mind. The formula is extremely moisturizing, perfect for the cold winter air.

I hope you guys had a lovely  Thanksgiving holiday. Love you guys!

DUECES.

4 Fave Summer Lippies!

Hi everyone! ❤

If you have stuck with me for a while, you know how I feel about lipsticks and glosses.

I luuuuuuv dem.

Anyway, summer’s coming to a close, so why not share some fresh, summery colors that I loved this season??

LET’S GET MOVIN’.

So for starters, I’m going to show TWO drugstore lippies first, then two high-end. My top drugstore lipstick choice is Revlon Super-Lustrous Lipstick in “Coral Berry”, a sweet, candied coral color that is totally reminiscent of MAC’s “Vegas Volt”. It’s creamy and fresh, perfect for a day of lounging at the beach! Image

Next, I chose a drugstore gloss that is really easy to top on anything. I picked out NYC’s Liquid Lipshine in “Nude York City” because it complements my skin tone really nicely. It’s that perfect, beachy nude that looks great on anyone! Plus, I love the applicator; it applies the color nice and even.

NOW, let’s check out two high-end lip products :3

Not gonna lie, it was a hard decision.

First, as a lipstick, I chose one from Clinique, that’s a really easy color to wear. It’s Clinique Buttershine Lipstick in “Fresh Watermelon”, a nice, deep red-pink with some sparkle. It glides on deliciously, and illuminates your pout with a light glossy look, positively beautiful! To be honest, this summer I didn’t wear a lot of lipstick, but I love this color. It gives your mouth a “I just drank fruit punch” look, very kissable.

My high-end gloss is one from MAC. Truth be told, the only high-end glosses I own are from MAC, because there’s some KILLER drugstore glosses out there!!! I picked a lustreglass in “Wonderstruck”, a warm, shimmery pink. I like it because it’s got an opaque look on the lip, so you can just put it on and go. It’s effortless, it’s long-lasting, it’s perfection. AND it smells like cupcakes!

If you guys want a post on back-to-school fashion AND makeup, let me know in the comments. :}

I’m so sad summer’s almost over!!!!! We have to make the best of it, right?

Buhbye, darlings.

How-To: A Natural Face

Hey my lovely, fresh-faced beauties!

In the makeup world, a natural, or “nude” face means fully-dressed. It shouldn’t be hiding your features, it should be enhancing them…which is why everyone can wear this look!

Simply put, you’re just playing up what you like about your face. Do you have large, expressive eyes? Perfect cheekbones? Glowing skin? Full lips? Pick ONE feature, because that feature should be the focal point.

Here’s what you’ll need to get that “natural” beauty:

IMG_2846

  • Foundation or coverage of your choice (BB Cream, mineral powder, ect.)
  • Concealer
  • Pressed powder to set
  • A favorite blush/bronzer
  • Highlighter
  • Eye base or primer
  • Natural eyeshadow
  • Mascara
  • Brow powder and gel
  • Lipstick
  • Lipgloss

(P.S: You don’t have to use all of the products I mentioned..you can pick and choose what to add or take away!)

Anyway, let’s start!

The first step is simple, yet difficult, so prepare yourself! You need to create a perfect, smooth, flawless complexion.

I exfoliated my skin and put on some moisturizer first, so my skin would be prepped and primed. When you’re applying your coverage, be extremely careful! In one flash of a powder puff you can go totally cake-faced. (If you turned cake-faced, check out this past post for salvation.)

The next part is ten times easier! Blush and highlighter! I love a good blush…the right shade can make such a difference in how someone looks. I chose one with subtle gold veining, so it can really make my cheeks pop! The secret in a nicely flushed complexion is LESS is MORE, so be sure to tap off any excess of your blush brush! I usually add a light dusting of highlighter on the tops of my cheekbones.

In this look, I decided to play up my eyes. Before I added any shadow, I put on a cream base to intensify the colors I would layer over it. I chose dreamy, subtle colors that would really make my brown eyes glow. Then, because my brows are sparse, I filled them in and set them with a clear gel. The eyes are the windows to the soul, and windows need good frames! A wise Youtuber once said, “Your brows should be like sisters, not twins.”, so you shouldn’t go to extremes to make them look identical.

The final step is my personal favorite, the lips, one of the most seductive things about a face. Before any lipstick or gloss, you should have them exfoliated and moisturized. I chose a nude lipstick color, but you could pick any soft, natural color  you like. I like to add gloss on top too, it makes your lips look softer, younger, and plumper.

And you are dooooone, hun! ;}

PRODUCTS I USED:

  • Dr. Jart+ Premium Beauty Balm SPF 45
  • Mineral Fusion Concealer Duo in “Neutral”
  • Clinique Stay-Matte Pressed Powder in “Stay Buff”
  • Milani Blush in “Dolce Pink”
  • Wet ‘N Wild Color Icon Bronzer in “Reserve Your Cabana”
  • Maybelline Color Tattoo in “Barely Branded”
  • Smashbox Eyelights Palette in “Flash”
  • Real Colors Whip Lash Ultimate Mascara in “Extreme Black”
  • Zuzu Luxe Lipstick in “Ultra Suede”
  • NYC Liquid Lipshine in “Nude York City”

You should look and feel really fresh and confident, like you’re not wearing much of anything, but  still put-together and polished.

I hope you guys enjoyed this how-to. After all, it’s basically my everyday look in a nutshell!

My Concealer Collection!

Concealer is a huge part of my daily routine. It’s like my under-cover agent, for concealing my dark circles, zits, redness, and any ugly part of my epidermis.

I have the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in #10, Clinique All About Eyes Concealer in #01″Light Neutral”, and Mineral Fusion Concealer Duo in “Neutral”.

If you’re wondering “Why the *bleep* do you have more dan one concealer, gurl?!?! Dat cray-cray!”

Wellllll…it’s because sometimes I’m in the mood for different textures. My Fit Me is good for travel, my Clinique is good for under eyes, and my Mineral Fusion is great for pimples. They’re like three best friends, you love them all, but they’re unique from each other!

So here’s some mini-reviews on my three concealers! ❤

MAYBELLINE FIT ME CONCEALER

AAAAC_UQgeAAAAAAAR2JCA

These concealers come in tubes like a lip gloss, and you get a lot of product for your buck! The doe-foot applicator in the picture looks really thin and stumpy, but in real life, it seems very full, soft, and squishy on contact. The concealer itself has a thin, creamy consistency that’s very emollient…it’s probably the best thing out of the whole Fit Me line!! P.S: It has a powder finish, and if you actually SET it with a powder, it can look caky!

I use this when I’m too lazy to actually use foundation or tinted moisturizer, like when I’m on the go! I just dot a bit here and there, then blend it out! It provides a great all-over coverage.

CLINIQUE ALL ABOUT EYES CONCEALER

clinique-all-about-eyes-concealer

This is a concealer I love. You only need a MINUSCULE amount to get good coverage, and you can mix it with moisturizer for a customized tinted moisturizer. Compared to the Maybelline Fit Me, it’s more thick on the skin.

P.S:  It’s not oil free, and the ladies at the Clinique counter recommended to only use it on my under-eyes, but when I use it on acne, I don’t see or feel a difference! I guess for sensitive-skin-people, you should only use it on your eyes, but whatevs. Rebel life, yo.

MINERAL FUSION CONCEALER DUO

300

This is my favorite cream concealer in the whole world. Blending is effortless, and you can mix your own shade! The darker peach color is what I use to correct my dark circles, and I dot the lighter one on acne. It really clings to your skin, so it lasts quite a long time! I can’t explain how much I love this…but I love it a lot. It was a bit pricey if I remember, but compared a handful of high end concealers it wasn’t that shocking. I’m actually starting to make a dent in it! ;}

Anywayyy that’s my concealer collection! I hope the reviews are helpful, and if you have any questions you can ask them in the comments. Do you guys have more than one concealer, or am I just weird? :}

Buhbye guys!

Product of the Week

 Hi darlings.

I wanted to show you MY FAVORITE newest product, that is super versatile and I don’t mention often.

BUT I USE IT A LOT.

Like every day.

‘Cause it’s just an amazing staple.

Clinique Stay-Matte Pressed Powder!

Image

If you have oily or combo skin, I totally recommend you check this baby out. On drier skin it can look a little caky, but it controls oil amazingly and can provide a fair amount of coverage if you want it.

My shade is “Stay Buff”, which works really well for my neutral skin. It isn’t completely matte, (it looks sort of satin-ish on me), which I love! It never looks really powdery, or really like your wearing any makeup; it just adds a subtle, healthy glow.

But, alas. Thou must goeth, for thy homework won’t do itself.

I love ya. Stick around for a MAC Haul in a couple of days!

A Surprisingly Good Lipstick You Should All Know About

Hey everyone!

I know on my blog I usually talk a lot about the MAC lipsticks, but I wanted to share with you a surprisingly good find that NO ONE mentions!

I haven’t seen any YouTube beauty-bloggers rave about it, I haven’t seen very many blog threads celebrating it’s existence, so I’m curious if anyone really knows how good of a product it is.

And this product is….drumroll, please……

CLINIQUE BUTTER-SHINE LIPSTICK in “Pink Toffee”!!! Whoooooooo! Go Pink Toffee!!!

images

I know the color looks super-butt-ugly-Barbie-pink in the picture, but in real life, it doesn’t turn out that way. It’s like a warm, creamy pink with hints of berry, and sometimes you can build it up so it’s almost like a cranberry red! It doesn’t settle into creases, dry up, or get so glossy it slides all over the place. It’s moisturizing, too, just like the Revlon Lip Butters, but a thousand times more pigmented and long-wearing.

THIS is the little-black-dress of the makeup world, because this color can work for anyone at all, and look really  chic and classy.

Anyway, I know this was a short post, but I wanted to have some show-and-tell! :}

The Wonderful World of Lipstick

Oooh lipstick, you’re so auhmayzing! So creamy and sweet and beautiful!

Anyway, hey my cuddly wuddlies! This is going to be a miscellaneous collection of reviews of some of my FAVORITE lipsticks. Like, ever. On this whole wide Earth. Or universe. Or whatevs.

OKAY #1: MAC Lipstick (Cremesheens)

AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH they’re great! They’re really..well, creamy! (Hence the name, hehe)  My favorite is the shade “Hot Gossip”, which is a nice, light pink with touches of lilac-plum. Honestly, it looks warmer in the bullet, but it would still work for a variety of skin-tones because it’s not really cool.

Image Okay so the MAC lipsticks are amazing, period. They smell like freaking vanilla cupcakes, rainbows, candy, and HAPPINESS!!!! And they’re like BUTTAH. And dat color selection! I mean, dammmnn.

NUMBA 2: Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick

These are super moisturizing and super pigmented! They are, like, three dollars more than the MAC ones, and not that different from Cremesheens, but these are some amazing formulas.

For one, they make your lips look plump, juicy, and hydrated. For two, they have colors for everyone! And for three, they stay on through eating/drinking/talking/kissing. They’re pretty sensational.

               Image

And, a plus, they’re really beautiful, especially on camera. The colors are certainly legendary!

BOW-CHICKA-WOW-WOW #4: Clinique Buttershine Lipstick

Mmm, these are great! It’s like an amped-up, better-quality version of the Revlon Lip Butters! Only way more pigmented and long-wearing, and with a better range of shades.

The name, “Buttershine”, makes you think it would slip and slide, right? Wrooong! It can stick to your pout WITHOUT drying down to an oddly-matte finish, and is so rich in formula there’s no need for a balm underneath.  Image

My favorite color is berry blush, because it’s like the perfect “my lips but better” shade.

Anyway, thanks a lot (if you managed to read this through), and I really, really hope I’m not posting to a blank wall! I’ll be back in a couple days with a MAC haul, and maybe a few things in between. I hope you have a gorgeous, gorgeous day!
